Welcome to Living Hope

There’s a place for you here!

If you’re new to Saukville and looking for a friendly community, feeling a nudge from God to look for a church home, or you just have questions and want to connect, we're right here in the neighborhood, and we’d love to get to know you.

We invite you to join us for worship services each Sunday morning at 10:30 am in-person or live-streaming online, and stay for coffee and refreshments after the service. Worship includes music, prayer, Scripture readings, and Communion for everyone, all with a friendly, family feel. Sunday School for kids ages 3 through 5th grade meets weekly at 9:15 am.

After worship, stay and join us for fellowship time with coffee, baked goods, and friendly conversation.

We are Christ’s Living Hope working to reflect Christ’s Light and Love to all as we continue on this journey together. Our purpose is to deepen, strengthen, and widen the impact of God’s Church here and in the world.

Our building hosts our affiliated preschool & daycare center, Here We Grow. Our Pastor is Rev. Daniel Flucke, who also serves our partner congregation, Christ the King Lutheran in Port Washington.

While our heritage and celebration style follows Lutheran traditions, our community is open to all because we truly believe that Jesus loves everyone and that our command from Jesus is to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. (Matthew 22:39). Come and see what we are about!

We look forward to meeting you and serving Jesus & our neighbors together! Here are answers to some questions you might be wondering about before you visit. And of course, when you get here, a greeter will assist you in finding all that you need to enjoy and feel at home here.

  • What should I wear to Sunday Worship?
Living Hope is a fairly casual congregation when it come to dress. You are likely to find dress pants and nice shirts as well as jeans, t-shirts and shorts. You will see people walking around in dress shoes, boots, sandles and tennis shoes. What you can be certain of is that you will be welcome wearing whatever you’re comfortable in.

  • Please bring them! Know that they are welcome including all their wiggles and noises! We have children of all ages and abilities here at Living Hope. Each worship service includes a special Children’s Sermon from Pastor sharing the message of the day just for little ones. On your way into worship, be sure to grab an activity bag from the wall next to the bookshelves with a variety of items to help keep your children occupied during worship.

If a break from worship becomes necessary, there are also couches available just outside the sanctuary where young children can play with parents nearby. There are speakers in this area so parents can continue to hear the message while their children are able to play. We have changing tables, highchairs, and children’s books available as well.

  • Yes! We believe that all who are baptized are welcome with us at the Lord's Table. You don't need to be a member of our congregation or even a Lutheran. If you share our belief that Jesus is truly present in the bread and wine, you are invited to receive Communion. And if you'd prefer not to receive, that's fine too! We'd be honored to offer you a blessing instead.

As you come forward for communion, you will receive a piece of bread. You may then dip the bread into one of the smaller chalices of white grape juice or wine, called Intinction, or you may eat the bread and drink from the “Common Cup”. Gluten-free wafers are also available.

  • While there will be a moment in the service inviting people to respond by giving an offering, if you are a guest at Living Hope, please know that your sharing time with us during worship is gift enough. If you do feel moved to give while you visit us, please feel free to do so, but it is not expected. If you prefer to give online, you can do so here on our website.

  • We start at 10:30 am on Sunday and the worship service typically concludes at 11:30 am. After that we request that you stay to visit with us after service has concluded. Please enjoy coffee, juice, and baked goods or donuts in the fellowship hall.

  • We have lots of room for parking. You are welcome to use one of the "Guest" spots in the parking lot or park wherever you'd like. Our building is fully accessible, with handicap parking spots, powered entry doors, and everything is on one level, so there are no steps to be concerned about.

We Believe...

  • God purposely created you, knows your entire self and loves you exactly as you are.

  • To truly embrace Jesus’ message is to choose a lifestyle that unconditionally accepts all individuals, families, neighborhoods, and nations.

  • Jesus is always on the side of the accused, lost, lonely, abused, forgotten, marginalized, and those treated as collateral.

  • The hands, feet, minds, voices, and energy given to us are for Christ’s work here on earth. Talents and abilities are to be used in service to lift people up.

  • The earth is our home, a resource that has no equal, and God intended for us to be good stewards. Our actions and choices have impacts we may not envision, but we must strive to maintain and preserve the earth for everyone.

Humility:

Reconciliation is defined as the rebuilding of our relationship with God and humanity that was broken because of misunderstandings, mistakes, or actions. We strive to live as reconciling people, humbly listening and learning from others in our community and world. We commit ourselves to build a culture where all are loved and where our unity is found in Christ.

As such, the term “Christian” is an active noun. Being a Christian means humbly learning, working, and walking in the way that we believe Christ is leading in love every day. On this journey toward reconciliation with Christ and each other, we must remember our human frailty.   We may stumble, and fall, but Christ’s Light and Perfect Love saves us from ourselves. This love is boundless, limitless, and beyond our human capability to truly understand.

We are Christ’s Living Hope working to reflect Christ’s Light and Love to all as we continue on this journey together.
